**Notice of Scholarship Program Suspension**
The Board of Directors of The LeRoy and Carol Davis Foundation announce the temporary suspension of its Scholarship Program for the 2025–2026 academic year.
After careful evaluation of the organization’s financial position, funding commitments, and long-term strategic priorities, the Board has determined that pausing the program for one academic cycle is necessary to ensure the sustainability and integrity of our mission. This decision was not made lightly. For the last 4 years, the Scholarship Program has supported deserving students in pursuing their educational goals, and we remain deeply proud of the impact it has had in our community.
During this period, the organization will focus on strengthening its funding base, evaluating program structure, reviewing scholarship criteria, and developing a sustainable framework for future scholarship offerings. Our intent is to resume the Scholarship Program once financial and operational conditions allow.
We sincerely appreciate the continued support of our donors, partners, volunteers, and community members. Questions regarding this notice may be directed to Ryan C. Davis. Please send inquiries to ryan@tlcdf.org.
Thank you for your understanding and ongoing commitment to our mission.

How It All started
On January 23, 2021, I had an epiphany while spending time with our mother before she went to be with our dad the following morning. Having known how hard she and Dorothy "Dot" Mullner (pictured with our Mother to the right) worked to not only bring the Montessori program to G.R.P.S. but make it successful enough to keep it in existence to this day. I told our mom that I would not let her hard work and dedication to education be forgotten, and I would accomplish this by starting a Foundation in her and our dad's name. I said to her "I am going to start the LeRoy and Carol Davis Foundation to support Montessori excellence". She gave me a big smile and squeezed my hand. One of many fond memories that are now treasures.
While our mother was a resident at Beacon Hill Assisted Living I had the opportunity to record an interview with her. I have long wondered what got her excited enough to work so hard to bring the Montessori program to Grand Rapids Public Schools. While her memory failed her in many areas, she remembered the journey she and Dorothy Mullner took to accomplish their mission. If you would like to hear our mother tell her story in her own words click on the photo of Carol and Dorothy.
On April 28, 2022, The LeRoy and Carol Davis Foundation was born, and in May 2022 the Foundation handed out the first two scholarships. Two hard-working G.R. Montessori graduates received a $1,000 scholarship to help pay for costs associated with their higher education. Thank you for your generosity and support.
